Oldham cannabis farm busted by police – £17,500 of marijuana seized

Cannabis worth £17,500 was seized by Greater Manchester Police from a house in Oldham on Saturday night.

A 46-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply from the property on Ryeburne Street in Greenacres, and bailed until May 22 pending further inquiries.

The police uncovered the drugs after executing a warrant on the house.

Police Constable Sarah Bull said: “We are well aware of the issue of cannabis cultivation in our communities and action such as this shows that we have been listening and responding to their concerns.

“Today, the Association of Chief Police Officers has issued a report on the extent of cannabis supply but I would like to reassure our communities in Oldham we have recently been very proactive on this issue.

"We will continue to rid the town of drugs and bring those involved in its sale and supply to justice.

"As always, their information is vitally important, and if anyone knows anything about those involved in drug or any other criminal activity I would urge them to get in touch."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact their local neighbourhood policing team or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
