Manchester is the home of rock. It’s only natural that the North West's first women’s only rock festival would be held here.

LadyRock Festival will make its debut on Saturday May 26 2012 at Manchester Rugby Club. The event’s founder and director, Jackie Crozier, said: “We’ve all got a little Girl Power inside – it’s time we started to shout about it a little louder!”

The LGBT community have widely recognised Crozier for her work with the Manchester Pride festival. She served as the director of the event for four years until she stepped down in 2011. During the time that she worked with Manchester Pride the festival received the ‘Best UK Pride’ prize for five consecutive years.

Crozier will bring her award winning experience to LadyRock. She promises that the event will showcase ‘some of the best female talent on offer, from world-class headliners to the unsigned and up-and-coming’. Crozier hopes the event will foster a ‘sense of female unity’.

That wish shouldn’t stop ladies from bringing their fellas, however. Crozier added: “Men are more than welcome – if there are RockerBoys who want to come and support the females we applaud that!”

Tickets go on sale for LadyRock Festival 2012 starting March 1. You can also check out their website for more information: www.ladyrockfestival.com
