Funeral for Drummer Lee Rigby killed in ‘terror’ attack to be held in Bury in next two weeks

By Matt Scrafton

The funeral of Drummer Lee Rigby, the soldier hacked to death in Woolwich on in May, will take place in Bury in the next two weeks.

Drummer Rigby, 25, was killed in a suspected terrorist attack as he made his way back to the Woolwich barracks in South East London.

Michael Adebowale, 22, and Michael Adebolajo, 28, are accused of his murder and will stand trial in November.

Father-of-one Drummer Rigby, from Middleton, was part of the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

A post-mortem examination found that Rigby had died from ‘multiple incised wounds’, and suffered such ‘extensive and serious’ injuries that he had to be identified using his dental records.

Adebowale and Adebolajo appeared in court on June 28 to confirm their identities at a hearing at the Old Bailey.

Neither of the suspected killers have yet to enter a plea in relation to Drummer Rigby’s death, and are due to do so at another hearing on September 27.

The funeral is expected to be held in two week’s time according to Sky sources.
