Thugs rip earrings from woman in frenzied Ashton attack – police appeal for witnesses

Danielle Wainwright

A woman had her earrings ripped out in a vicious and unprovoked attack while walking with her husband in Ashton on Saturday morning.

The couple were walking along Wilshaw Lane at about 6.50am on June 29 when two men approached them from behind.

The thugs attacked the pair and violently struggled with the woman before fleeing onto Vicarage Road with the gold earrings, which are decorated with a white gold flower.

Detective Constable David Montgomery said: “The victim has been left badly shaken up by what happened and the struggle meant that she has pain to her ears.”

The men are described as white, in their late teens to early 20s, about 5ft 10in tall and of slim build.

DC Montgomery has urged witnesses to get in touch as any piece of information may help to catch the perpetrators.
