Watch: MM editor takes on historic 500km cycle route in support of Cyclists Fighting Cancer

500k in a day has quite a ring to it… so this July 5/6 I’ve persuaded two mates to ride from Falmouth to London with me to support a children’s cancer charity.

Cyclists Fighting Cancer are 15 next year so when my teammate George’s godson Rory was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma (a rare form of bone cancer), we decided earlier this year to put our effort into our first 500km (310 miles) ride as a way of supporting the charity.

Since having his world turned upside down at the age of 12, Rory was recently given the all clear ahead of his 13th birthday and one day we hope he’ll be out on a bike with us (just far better dressed!)

Stay tuned for ride posts on Instagram as we tackle the same route used by the messenger who delivered the news of victory in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805… (see more below in the video).
