CCTV: Suspected robber with ‘underbite’ who robbed Stockport store and threatened staff at gunpoint

By Danielle Wainwright

A CCTV image of a man suspected of putting a stocking over his head and threatening staff of a Stockport convenience store at gunpoint has been released.

The incident occurred on Sunday August 11 at around 8.30pm when a man walked into the storeroom of a Spar on Bramhall Lane.

He then reappeared at around 9.15pm attempting to cover his face with a stocking and threatened staff with a handgun before fleeing with cash.

Detective Constable Joe Trippet said: “Thankfully nobody was hurt during the incident, although staff were shaken up.

“It is possible the man left via an emergency exit and came back in a short time later, but he could also have hidden away in the storeroom.

“We would urge anyone who may recognise this man to come forward.

“We have been investigating this robbery for more than a month and we still need to find the man responsible so we are asking for the public’s help.”

The robber is described as being a white man in his early 40s, about 6ft 1in tall and of stocky build. He was wearing tinted glasses, a black cap and he also had a rucksack.

The man also appeared to have an underbite jaw, giving the appearance that his chin sticks out.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9853 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
