Get kinky this Christmas: Men want bondage gear as gifts to re-enact 50 Shades of Grey, survey reveals

‘Get kinky’ is the message this Christmas.

Men are apparently sick of novelty presents and either want practical gifts or… wait for it… ties and handcuffs to re-enact dirty sex-scenes from 50 Shades of Grey.

Menswear retailer High and Mighty carried out a survey looking into the North West’s shopping habits which revealed 98.2% of men don’t want novelty presents this year.

Instead they want to receive more quality goods such as socks, pants, slippers and cufflinks as well as some more unusual items a Manchester store manager revealed.

“We do get requests for extra-long ties following recent news reports that couples are using ‘safer’ methods of rein-acting sex scenes from the erotica novel 50 Shades of Grey,” Robert Harrison of High and Mighty Manchester told MM.

“This is after the significant rise in numbers of emergency services being called out to unlock handcuffs in the bedroom.”

Mr Harrison also revealed that women are now buying a lot more accessories for their partners who now prefer quality over quantity.

“Popular gifts for men include cufflinks, gloves, scarves underwear and other accessories,” Mr Harrison added.

“More and more women are buying vouchers for made to measure suits as men are a lot more style savvy and want to look well groomed.”

The survey also shows that 48% of men put the effort into trying to find the perfect gift for men and no longer leave it to the last minute to buy gift for their loved one as only 3% say they shop on Christmas Eve.

Mr Harrison puts this change in male shopping habits down to the improvement in online shopping which the survey revealed was most popular in the North West.

“It shows that men are evolving as a consumer giving a lot more thought in gift buying.

“I think this may have a lot to do with internet shopping being so easy and simple.”
