Don’t forget the cake: Manchester City wish Aguero happy birthday TWICE after Toure saga

Manchester City have seemingly learnt from their Yaya Toure birthday gaffe by wishing super-striker Sergio Aguero ‘Feliz cumpleaños’ in a very public manner.

The Citizens are ensuring that all bases are covered by wishing their Argentine talisman a happy birthday in over-the-top fashion, via Twitter.

The Blues have been held to ransom by their Ivorian powerhouse Yaya Toure after the 31-year-old announced that he was unhappy with the way he was treated during his birthday last month.

Toure has remained coy over his future since the furore claiming that was ‘disrespected’ while on a celebratory trip to Abu Dhabi with his City team mates.

Toure’s future at City was thrown into doubt when he backed claims from his agent Dimitri Seluk that he was upset by City’s treatment of him.

Seluk said: “There is a big possibility Yaya will leave this summer. He is very upset. What happened at his birthday means the club don’t care about him. It was proof.

“They can say whatever they want, Oh we like him but we forgot. Forgot about Yaya, the player who helped you to be two-time Premier League champions. The guy who helped you win the FA Cup and League Cup.

“In a normal team, his team-mates and club would at least give him good wishes. But when you win the title and two days later you have a big party to celebrate the title and nobody comes to Yaya to say happy birthday, what more do you want.

“If a player like Yaya went to Liverpool and they won the league for the first time in 24 years, Yaya would be a god in Liverpool.”

Toure netted 20 times for Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the 2013/14 campaign and is regarded as one of the premier players in world football.

Losing such a catalyst in the centre of the park would be catastrophic for City’s title hopes and the Eastland’s side will do all they can to keep Toure at the Etihad.

One way that Pellegrini will be able to persuade the dynamic midfielder to stay is by offering him a coaching role similar to the one French legend Zinedine Zidane plays at Real Madrid.
