Callous teenagers leave 'vulnerable' pensioner terrified after Blackley street robbery

By Dean Wilkins

Callous robbers attacked a vulnerable pensioner while he was waiting for a taxi in Blackley on Saturday.

The 73-year-old man was outside the servicemen’s club on Whitemoss Road when he was attacked by two teenagers.

One of the robbers pinned him against the wall as another rummaged through his pockets and stole his wallet.

The offenders were joined by two others before the group ran off.

Police Constable Colin Ridgway from North Manchester Volume Crime Team, said: “These offenders thought nothing of intimidating a vulnerable elderly man.

“They pushed him up against a wall and stole his wallet, luckily he was not injured, but has been left very shaken by the ordeal.

“If you were in the area on Saturday and witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously, please get in contact.

“I would also like to appeal to the offenders to think about the consequences of this crime and to hand themselves in, before we come knocking on your door.”

The offenders are described as black, in their mid-teens, of medium build and wore dark clothing.
