Robbed and racially abused: Salford man ‘shaken up’ after racist thugs hurl insults and snatch cash

By Danielle Wainwright

Two racist thugs abused and robbed an Asian man in Ordsall and fled when a passer-by intervened last month.

The black offenders approached the 31-year-old victim on Oldfield Road at about 9pm on June 20 and made racial comments towards him before rifling through his pockets and stealing some cash.

The victim was able to lash out at the men who were then picked up in a red Astra close to Regent Road.

Detective Constable Justin Bryan said: “The motive of these two was clearly robbery but they have also racially abused at the victim, who as you can imagine has been quite shaken up by what happened.”

Both offenders were black, one was 6ft 2in tall, in his 30s, and wearing a black hooded top.

The other was about 5ft 9in tall and was wearing a red denim jacket and grey cap.

DC Bryan added: “Were you in the area and saw what happened? Do you know anyone matching the descriptions that might live or socialise in the area? If so we need to hear from you.”

Anyone with information can call police on 0161 856 5351 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
