Financial interests: See what your MP has received in donations, gifts and trips

By James Haviland & Emma Nicholls

Twelve Greater Manchester MPs registered donations, gifts, prizes and loans worth more than £90,000, according to parliamentary papers released this week.

As well as foreign trips, income from TV appearances and other work, several MP’s seem to have ignored public hostility over employing family members with tax payer money.

Labour MP’s David Crausby of Bolton North East, Jim Dobbin from Heywood and Middleton, Yvonne Favargue for Makerfield, Simon Danczuk from Rochdale and Conservative MP Graham Brady of Altrincham and Sale West all employ their partners.

In fact almost 1 in 5 MP’s employs a relative at an estimated cost to the tax payer of almost £3 million.

Mr Danczuk also enjoyed a free day out for two at the Oval for the England v India test match worth over £1158.

The outing was funded by Japan Tobacco International, the world’s 3rd largest tobacco company that denies links between passive smoking and cancer.

The Rochdale MP received £12,000 for 12 hours a month work over a year as non-executive director of Vision Twenty-One which he part owned but went into voluntary liquidation earlier this year.

The company left debts of £222,000of which £113,140 was owed to the tax man.

Mr Danczuk also took part in a five day trip to Kashmir and Pakistan courtesy of the Azad Government of Kashmir worth around £3,040.

Six Manchester MP’s enjoyed trips, mainly abroad, financed by various groups worth almost £18,000.

Fifteen of Greater Manchester's parliamentarians did not register any outside interests.
