Brothel discovered in Rochdale flat – police investigate human trafficking links as three arrested

By Danielle Wainwright

Three people were arrested yesterday after police in Rochdale uncovered a brothel being operated in a flat.

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and for management of a brothel and a 29-year-old Blackley man was arrested on suspicion of Human Trafficking.

A 39-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of running the brothel on Oldham Road.

Inspector Umer Khan, of Rochdale North INPT, said: “These arrests demonstrate that we have listened to the general concerns of the community and taken direct action.

“This investigation is at an early stage and we appeal to anyone who has any information in connection with the establishment or links to come forward and speak to us.”

Officers are still interviewing the suspects and witnesses and are yet to establish whether the women were working voluntarily or if they have been trafficked into the country.

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 9961 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
