Act without thinking! Salford told to ‘get spontaneous’ by improvisation comedy troupe

By Chloe Vinden

Salford is being urged to spread the joy of spontaneous comedy by London-based comedy improvisation group The Murderettes.

On November 10 The Murderettes, who specialise in murder mystery comedy, will perform at the King’s Arms on Bloom Street.

The venue, established in 1883, is well known for providing a space for entertainers, including theatre troupes, musicians, comedians and dancers.

Murderette and stand-up comedian, Peter Edwards said: “Improvisers act instinctively, without thinking. Instincts are much funnier and more productive than thought, and therefore extremely socially attractive.

“We want an audience who will come away wanting to learn improvisation and know more about it.

“Improvisation is the most delightful creative form imaginable. In improvisation we learn that disagreement equals destruction, and adding means we’re building something together.

“There are thousands of warm-up games to play, all designed to help us as performers ‘train our brains’ to build an emotive funny story.

“In our shows, us and the audience are building the story together.”

The Murderettes, who improvise from audience suggestions, have just finished a series of critically-acclaimed London based shows titled ‘Grace, laughs & a many witty comment’ with Everything Theatre claiming their act to be a ‘unique concept, great deadpan humour.’

The event at Salford’s King’s Arms will begin at 6:15pm; tickets are £5 per person and can be purchased via www.murderettes.com.
