Morgan Schneiderlin believes ‘unlucky’ Man Utd will start firing again soon

Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin says he is not concerned by his side’s lack of goals following three successive 0-0 draws.

The Red Devils registered just four attempts and one on target in Saturday’s stalemate against Crystal Palace and Louis van Gaal’s side have now failed to find the back of the net in 325 minutes of football.

None of Wayne Rooney’s 45 touches against the Eagles came inside the opposition’s penalty area but Schneiderlin is confident that the team will start firing again soon.

“It’s frustrating when you don’t win games. We have the players to score goals and we will score goals,” the midfielder told the club’s official website.

“It’s not a worry for me. We’ve had the chances and sometimes it’s just a matter of taking the time to make a good choice.

“Every team is going to go through a period where they don’t score goals and are going to be unlucky. It will happen to the teams in front of us for sure. It’s up to us to win games and overtake those teams.”

United now turn their attention to tomorrow’s Champions League tie against CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford and Schneiderlin believes the positivity among the squad will ensure that they will return to winning ways.

“After the Arsenal game, we’ve shown good character and spirit. We want to win the title so, to win games, we need to score goals. We’ll have to work hard and hope we bounce back.

“Overall, when we look at the last three games, we played very good against Everton, played good against [Manchester] City and should have won as we were the only team pushing to win and today we’ve drawn so we could have had nine points.”

With Manchester City and Arsenal winning at the weekend, United have now slipped four points behind their rivals in the Premier League table but Schneiderlin insists they are still title contenders.

“Of course we are [in the title race]. It’s still early as we head into November so there are a lot of games to be played but we are there.

“It doesn’t matter if you are second, third, fourth or fifth in November. What matters is to be first at the end of May and win the games.”
