‘We have to win them all’: Manchester United boss David Moyes asks side to be perfect until end of season

By Scott Hunt

Manchester United manager David Moyes believes his side must be perfect for the rest of the season if they are to retain the Premier League.

United twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Tottenham at White Hart Lane and Moyes believes it was two points dropped rather than one won.

Speaking after the game the Scot admitted that he was concerned that his side were losing sight of leaders Arsenal.

“I’m concerned we’re not as close as we’d like to be but it’s a long season and hopefully we’ll be there or thereabouts,” Moyes told MUTV.

“I think the way we are at the moment we have to win all our games. I feel we’ve dropped two points.

“I think the Premier League is tight and we’ll try and stay on the shirt-tails and put ourselves in a good position at the start of next year.”

It was United’s second successive 2-2 draw after Cardiff last weekend and striker Wayne Rooney believes they need to start taking maximum points.

“We’re on a good run at the minute – but we need to turn some of these draws into wins,” Rooney told BTSport.

United fell behind against Tottenham thanks to a defensive lapse from Phil Jones resulting in a free kick which was thumped home by Kyle Walker.

The Red Devils hit back somewhat against the run of play as Rooney pounced on a loose touch from Walker to poke in the equaliser.

In the second half and United were looked to be the stronger side before a screamer from Sandro put Tottenham back in front.

Once more United responded as Danny Welbeck was brought down in the box by Hugo Lloris just three minutes later and Rooney converted the penalty.

While Rooney was content with a point at White Hart Lane he was concerned that his side were not closing out matches against lesser opposition.

“Today, it was a difficult game with two good teams, so a point is probably a good result,” he said.

“It’s in the other games that we have to turn one point into three – that can make a massive difference for us.”
