Bury teen bravely fights off pervert who sexually assaulted her in subway

A brave teen has fought off a pervert who pushed her up against a wall and sexually assaulted her in a Bury subway.

The 15-year-old victim was walking through the subway, which connects Jubilee Way and Bolton Street, when she was attacked by a man at around 9:15pm on Friday July 31.

The offender pushed her up against the wall and sexually assaulted her, but the courageous young girl pushed him away and threatened to call for help until he left.

Detective Sergeant Ian Partington said: “This was obviously a distressing ordeal for the young victim, who was forced to fight off the assault of a much older man.

“She bravely stood up for herself, pushing him away and threatening to call for help unless he stopped the attack.”

The pervert is described as an olive-skinned man, in his late 20s or early 30s, around 5ft 8in tall, with a dimple in his chin, and of average build with a local accent.

He was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top with the hood up, dark trousers which were slightly lighter than his top and dark trainers.

Police are appealing urging people to come forward if they saw anything or have any information about this man as he is considered a possible danger to other young girls.

DS Partington said: “Anyone capable of committing this act against a young girl in a subway is capable of potentially attacking other young victims, which is why it is so important we identify this man.

“If you saw anything of the attack, or believe you saw someone matching the above description in the area at the time, please contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
