Somewhere to play away? Man Utd’s Class of ’92 announce Hotel Football to kick off in time for Christmas

Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville will bring the world’s first-ever football hotel to the city in time for Christmas.

Giggs, who is currently the assistant manager at United, and Sky Sports pundit and England coach Neville will open the doors to its 133-room Hotel Football on December 8.

The lavish four-star palace, situated opposite the Red Devils’ Old Trafford stadium, is expected to become the ultimate fan’s hangout – as well as a luxurious stopover site for non-football fanatics.

Talking about his exciting new project, Neville said:  “Ryan and I have spent so much of our lives playing at Old Trafford and appreciate everyone who supported us there over the years.

“To make sure that the hotel appeals to everyone, not just football fans, we are working with some of the most talented people in the industry to create something unique and inviting – with a focus on excellent customer service.”

The former members of the Class of ‘92 maintain that the hotel will have a strong focus on teamwork – a principle undoubtedly inspired by their successful careers at Manchester United.

Giggs and Neville are not alone in their venture with former Red teammates Gary’s brother Phil, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt also jumping on board.

In fact, the hotel will soon become like a second home to many young United players, as Hotel Football will also house the new United players lounge.

With subtle nods to the beautiful game running throughout the decor and a selection of football-inspired cocktails, the opening of the hotel is eagerly anticipated by both soccer supporters and winers and diners.

Hotel Football will house Cafe Football Manchester with two-starred Michelin chef Michael Wignall Wignall collaborating with cafe football’s executive chef Brendan Fyldes to create something extraordinary – fit even for a mega-rich Premier League footballer.

It seems the 11th floor, however, which will be home to a unique rooftop pitch, known as ‘heaven’, will steal the show as Giggs and Neville open their very own football fantasy land.

With a fully retractable roof, up to 200 people can enjoy the facilities and a panoramic view of Manchester for parties and events.

Lower down, The Old Trafford Supporters Club will also be based at the premises.

Stuart Procter, managing director of GG Hospitality, the hospitality company behind Hotel Football, said: “The announcement of the official opening date and the sneak peek inside what is one of the UK’s most unique hotel developments, is the next major milestone in this project.

“I’m looking forward to taking our very first bookings.”
