Police imposter threatens to stab elderly couple after breaking into their Blackley home and demanding cash

An elderly couple suffered a chilling ordeal when a man forced his way into their Blackley home, pretending to be a police officer, and threatened to stab them on Wednesday evening.

The con man broke into the house on Delaunays Road on October 1 just after 8:30pm and walked into the living room, demanding cash.

The terrified victims, both in their 80s, asked to see the man’s ID before he threatened to harm them and fled the scene.

The man, who is described as being of mixed race and 5ft 8in tall, was wearing a dark hooded top and tracksuit bottoms at the time of the incident and spoke with a local accent.

Police have launched an appeal to track down the imposter.

Detective Sergeant Chris Flint said: “Both victims cannot believe someone broke into their home and threatened them.

“Your house should be a place you feel safe but thanks to the actions of this man, that is no longer the case for this couple.

“I would ask anyone who may have seen a man fitting the description given hanging around the local area to contact us.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 3913 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
