3D artwork gives shoppers taste of down under as Virgin Atlantic launch first domestic flights in Manchester

A 3D homage to Virgin Atlantic’s new Little Red service is giving Manchester shoppers a taste of down under through sensational street art at St Anne’s Square.

The artistic duo known as ‘3D Joe and Max’ were responsible for the masterpiece which allowed people to pose on the wing of a plane with the famous red ladies cabin crew while overlooking the bright lights of Sydney.

Virgin Atlantic’s first-ever domestic flight service will fly four round-trips a day between Manchester and London Heathrow and opened on March 31.

Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Atlantic founder and president, said: “I’ve stood on many aircraft wings and I’m delighted to be able to share this experience in such a fun way with people in Manchester.

As well as giving Manchester fliers added choice and great value, Little Red will be offering a taste of the customer service Virgin Atlantic is world-renowned for with free 23kg luggage check-ins, pre-assigned seats, complimentary snacks and drinks and even hot breakfasts on early morning flights.

Sir Richard said: “Virgin Atlantic has been on an incredible journey since we started with a single plane 29 years ago. Little Red represents the next step on that journey as we bring competition back to these domestic flights, delivering Virgin Atlantic’s rock and roll spirit as well as real value for money.”

The schedule of the new flights is timed to maximise connections for passengers travelling onwards from London across Virgin Atlantic’s global network.

The new chapter in Virgin Atlantic’s history will see an increased capacity on the routes previously operated by BMI, flying almost one million passengers domestically on four Airbus 320 aircraft in the distinct Virgin colours with region-specific names chosen by lucky local competition winners.
