More to come: Ashton United manager fires warning shot at rivals insisting side will take ‘nothing for granted’

Ashton United joint manager Steve Halford has issued a warning to his rivals by declaring his side have more to come.

The Robins were in impeccable form in March, winning six out of seven.

They currently sit fifth in the Evo-Stik Premier Division ahead of tomorrow’s clash against visitors Ilkeston FC.

With momentum on their side, Halford has vowed that his players have the quality to continue their bid for a play-off spot.

“We have proved we are up there on merit and we can’t let the standards drop – we need to keep doing what we are doing,” he told MM.

“Our destiny is in our own hands but there is still going to be many twists and turns, with a lot to play for over the remainder of the season.

“It will be very tough tomorrow as they are somewhat in a relegation fight and knowing the manger there, he will have them fired up.”

Halford is in high spirits as the season draws to a close but has reiterated to his players that they must keep a level head.

“We are in a good position but we can’t take anything for granted and put our work to waste,” he added.

Captain Chris Lynch will return after suspension for the Hurst Cross tie, though the side will still be without the suspended Matty Kosylo and Greg Pearson who is unavailable.
