There could be more: Sir Alex Ferguson suggests further transfers to strengthen Manchester United squad

Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping strengthen his Manchester United squad with more signings this summer.

The Reds boss revealed his intentions that Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell may not be the only deals done before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Despite being linked with Southampton’s Luke Shaw, Euro 2012 finalist Daniele De Rossi and Juventus new-boy Kwadwo Asamoah, the club continue to conduct all negotiations behind closed doors.

When asked if he is hoping to make further additions, Sir Alex told MUTV: "Yes, there's a possibility. We’re working on one or two things but there’s nothing really to tell you to be honest.

"We always try to get our work done at the end of the season – we spent a good deal of time sorting the deal with Shinji and we’d agreed a deal with Nick Powell before the play-offs which was a good move by us because the boy had an outstanding final at Wembley.

"When you don’t get deals done immediately and you’re negotiating with a club over a long period, then you can’t expect to just snap your fingers and get it done."

Galatasary president Unal Aysal confirmed that the Turkish side are in pursuit of £6million-rate Dimitar Berbatov as United continue their clear-out.

The club also officially confirmed the departures of four players. Michael Owen, Tomas Kuszczak leave the first-team squad while 18-year-old goalkeepers Liam Jacob and Joe Coll have not been offered new contracts.
