Once a Red, always a Red: Phil Neville set to return to Manchester United as first team coach

By Glen Keogh

Manchester United’s former defender Phil Neville looks set to return to the club as part of the coaching staff.

The 36-year-old ended his playing career last month at David Moyes’ old club Everton, and he will link up with his old boss once more.

Neville made over 250 appearances for United, before spending eight successful years at Goodison Park, where he captained the club from 2007.

After being photographed at the club’s Carrington training complex early this morning, the Daily Mail report that Neville is set to be announced as Moyes’ latest backroom appointment.

His arrival will come after Moyes announced he would be joined by four members of his Everton coaching staff for the new season.

Former Toffees colleagues Chris Woods, Steve Round, Robbie Cooke and Jimmy Lumsden will all be at Manchester United next season.

Neville has been doing his coaching badges and holds the UEFA B License award, and was part of the England under 21’s coaching staff during the European Championship this summer.
