Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta in running for Northwest Premier League Player of the Year award

By Alex Lanigan

Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta is in the running to win the Northwest Football Awards’ Premier League Player of the Year on Saturday.

The Blues’ right back is up against some stiff competition in England international Leighton Baines.

Before the two face off against each other they will be competing in the polls for their fans.

Manchester City followers should need no excuses to vote for their player in the competition, as they will not want the prize to go to one of their rival’s stars.

Voting ends today and City fans are urged to vote for their 2013 player of the season.

The winner will be announced during the glittering 2013 Northwest Football Awards’ ceremony at Lancashire Cricket Club’s Point Conference Centre on November 4.

BBC’s Football Focus host, Dan Walker, will compere the Awards to be broadcast live on BBC Radio Lancashire, BBC Radio Manchester and BBC Radio Merseyside.

Other players in the running for the award are the now retired Jamie Carragher, Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick or Shaun Maloney of recently relegated Wigan Athletic.

Former Oldham midfielder Jose Baxter and Ex-Bury player David Worrall will be counting on their supporters of their former clubs in an attempt to secure the Northwest League One Player of the Year award.
