Make sure you fall over in the aisles... with Dave's Comedy in the Dark show at Manchester's Frog and Bucket

Top stand-ups are taking on a revolutionary new idea at Manchester’s Frog and Bucket Comedy Club in October Comedy in the Dark.

Dave’s Comedy in the Dark show is coming to Manchester on October 7, and it’s going to make you roll in the aisles. You might do it with laughter, or because you can’t see anything.

Described by Dave as something akin to ‘sensory overload’ and by BBC Leicester as ‘a fascinating cult experiment’, its Manchester stop will see famous comedians as Rob Rouse and Show Me The Funny winner Patrick Monahan attempt their routines in absolute darkness.

The idea of an entire comedy set taking place in the dark was originally stumbled upon (pardon the pun) at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival as part of a skit for being environmentally friendly, according to a tour spokesman.

Since then it’s been met with nothing but enthusiasm. As comedians gamely attempted their routines blind, audiences responded emphatically.

“The show was really well-received in Leicester, with great numbers attending,” the spokesman said. “It was so popular that we eventually had to think about taking it elsewhere.”

Comedy in the Dark has since been to the Edinburgh Fringe and was met with rave reviews. With Shappi Khorsandi topping the bill, one audience member described it as “the most fun you can have in the darkness- almost!”

Touted by Time Out to become ‘one of the most talked about shows,’ Comedy in the Dark is expected to be a wild success on its first ever national tour. Although one thing’s for certain- you won’t see these punchlines coming.
