By Danielle Wainwright

The family of a motorcyclist who died on Saturday after colliding with a car in Bury have spoken of their ‘devastation’ at losing their son, brother and uncle.

Gary Bell, 23, died in hospital from serious head and chest injuries after his white Yamaha motorcycle collided with a silver Toyota Yarris on Bond Street at around 10.30pm on Friday.

He had overtaken a vehicle and continued into the junction with Wash Lane before the smash with the Toyota travelling toward the same junction.

Gary was rushed to Hope hospital.

His family said: “Gary was our son, brother and uncle.  We are devastated by what’s happened, he was so loving and as a family we are completely distraught.

“There are no words to describe how much he will be missed by all of his family and friends.”

Police are now appealing for information and witnesses of the crash.

Senior investigating officer, Sergeant Danny Byrne, said: “This young man has tragically lost his life and we are supporting the family at this difficult time.

“It is important to establish how this collision happened, so we are appealing to anyone who may have seen the motorbike immediately beforehand travelling along Bond Street, or the collision itself, to contact police.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4745.
