‘Unthinkable’: Wigan woman threatens to stab boy JUST 10 in broad daylight… for £3.61

A woman threatened to stab a 10-year-old boy in broad daylight in Wigan in exchange for a grand total of £3.61.

The shocking incident took place at around 3.30pm on Friday October 31, when the young victim was walking from his aunt’s house to a nearby shop on Somerset Road in Norley Hall.

He was approached by the woman, who demanded that he hand over any money he had or she would stab him.

The terrified child handed over everything he had before the woman told him: “If you tell anyone I will get you, I know where you live.”

Detective Constable Brendan Greally said: “Unsurprisingly, the victim was extremely upset and shaken by what has happened.”

“To threaten a young child with such a violent act would be unthinkable to most people, and even though no knife was seen this young boy was understandably scared for his life.

“It took great bravery for him to speak up after she threatened to come after him if he told anyone, and we would like to commend him for that bravery.”

The offender spoke with a Wigan accent and is described as white and around 30 years of age.

She had long, dark brown hair which was cropped short at the front and was wearing blue eye shadow covering half her eyelids.

She was wearing a red coat, a red and white checked jumper, black trousers and flat black shoes.

DC Greally added: “It is vital that we track this woman down as soon as possible, so we would ask that if anyone believes they saw a woman matching this description in the area or may have any information as to her identity to contact police on the numbers below.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 7259 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
