Beheading videos and bomb-making guides: Oldham wife blames alleged terror material cache on husband

By Mancunian Matters staff

An Oldham hairdresser accused of multiple terror offences claims she thought her husband was only being ‘nosy’ when he allegedly took her scouting for potential Jewish bomb targets.

Shasta Khan, 38, denied any wrong-doing and blamed internet searches for explosives, chemicals and extremist propaganda – including beheading videos – on her husband.

She told Manchester Crown Court that alleged ‘reconnaissance’ trips to Jewish neighbourhoods were down to her husband Sajid, 33, from Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Khan said: “What I thought was, ‘Nothing to do, don't know where I'm going and he's taking me for a drive and he's looking at houses because he's nosy’.”

A cache of terror materials, including bomb-making guides, beheading videos and pro-Bin Laden propaganda, were allegedly found by police.

They were called to the Oldham property following a domestic disturbance last July.

The prosecution claim bleach, used by Khan at work, and electrical equipment were being readied into an improvised explosive device.

Her husband has already admitted to terror offences.

Khan denies engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism and three counts of possessing information useful for committing or preparing for an act of terrorism between August 2010 and July 2011.
