Motorcyclist dies after horror smash with HGV lorry in Bolton – police close Bradford Street

A motorcyclist has been killed following a road collision with a HGV this morning on the A666 in Bolton.

Shortly before 9.10am, police were called to St Peter’s Way after reports of a collision between a lorry and a motorbike.

Michael Stockton, 59, was rushed to hospital but died a short time later and a 32-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death whilst driving without due care.

Drivers have been warned that Bradford Street has been closed between Manchester Road on one side, up to and including the exit slip road from the A666 on the other.

Witnesses of the collision are asked to call traffic police on 0161 856 4741.
