'Magnificent' Javier Hernandez storms to back-to-back Manchester United Player of the Month awards

In-form goal-scoring saviour Javier Hernandez has netted his second consecutive Player of the Month award after storming to Manchester United fans’ vote.

The 24-year-old Mexican was denied his first hat-trick with United after a sensational second-half brace saved three points during an enthralling 3-2 win at Aston Villa.

And after picking up from where he left in October – following a series of sterling super-sub performances – he again bagged against Braga and QPR despite starting the game on the bench.

Following Chicharito’s incredible double at Villa Park, Sir Alex Ferguson said: “Javier Hernandez is fantastic in the penalty box and it's got us three goals.

“If you score a hat-trick you pick yourself – it's a magnificent result, it was a magnificent game.”

The FA ruled that Hernandez’s second of the game was a Ron Vlaar own goal and stripped him of earning the match ball.

After commanding run of form towards the back end of November, Brazilians Rafael da Silva and Anderson grabbed second and third place respectively – but Hernandez’s dominant 67% of the vote was enough to secure his sixth monthly triumph.
