Rochdale cyclist, 28, dies after collision with truck

A cyclist has died following a collision with a truck in Rochdale on Monday afternoon.

The 28-year-old man sustained fatal injuries shortly before 3.55pm when a DAF CF truck turned from Dane Street on to Norman Road.

Named locally as Alan Croston, the man was taken to hospital and died shortly after.

Sergeant Lee Westhead, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with this man’s family and friends at this tragic time.

“We have launched an investigation and are appealing for the public’s help to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.”
