The prospect of revenge against Barcelona next week will not distract Manchester City from focussing on their FA Cup quarter-final against Wigan on Sunday, according to manager Manuel Pellegrini.
City have a two goal deficit to overcome against the Spanish giants in the Champions League if they are to progress and remain on track for an unprecedented four trophies.
But the Chilean says that is of secondary concern to the team who first have to tackle a Wigan side that is unbeaten in five matches.
“I look to every competition with the same importance. On Sunday we have to play in the FA Cup, so we will think about the FA Cup,” he told reporters.
“When we finish that we will try to play a good match against Barcelona to have our revenge, and to try and continue in the Champions League.”
Wigan will bring over 3,000 fans with them to the Etihad as former Blue Uwe Rossler attempts to emulate his predecessor Roberto Martinez by guiding them to FA Cup glory.
The two sides have already met this season with the Citizens beating the Latics in the Capital One Cup third round en route to Wembley and the trophy.
With the tantalising prospect of a quadruple still on the table Pellegrini denied City were getting ahead of themselves despite the knowledge defeat in mid week would end their bid for European glory.
“It is very important for me to always work under pressure, but we are not thinking that we are going to win all the domestic titles or international titles, we are just trying to win every match,” he explained.
“The only pressure we have is to win on Sunday.”
