No bust-up with Bobby: Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany denies clash with ex-boss Roberto Mancini

By Colin Henrys

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany insists he did not fall out with Roberto Mancini during the Italian manager’s difficult final months at the Etihad Stadium.

Kompany, who is currently training with Belgium ahead of today’s World Cup Qualifier against Serbia, was publicly criticised by Mancini for playing international football after an injury lay-off.

It prompted rumours of a breakdown between the two, but Kompany insists he relishes learning from both his former and current bosses’ different management styles.

“No, there was no breakdown,” he told Sky Sports. “I think out of experience you have different managers and different styles.

“There is not one manager who can say he knows it all. Even the best managers in the world have deficiencies. You learn from every manager.

“I have learned a certain way from Wilmots, I have learned from Mancini and I learned from Mark Hughes. I have concentrated on the positives.”

The powerful defender, who could face team mate Aleksandar Kolarov tonight although rising star Matija Nastasic misses out, admitted the public criticism was difficult to take however.

However, with Manuel Pellegrini expected to be unveiled as Mancini’s successor next week, Kompany was keen to reiterate his desire to help City rebuild.

He said: “You are injured, you are out, you lose. There is nothing you can say that will make it good. That is why I did not say too much about it.

“I think the most important thing is I feel good now. I have always been committed to my club. Everybody knows it over there.”
