Spinningfields launch new monthly market with shoes off Lego Walk for The Christie

Spinningfields is urging Mancunians to put their best foot forward and tread where very few have dared to before in aid of The Christie as they get set to launch a new monthly market.

Manchester’s shopping and eating district is asking those brave enough to kick off their shoes and attempt the Lego Walk to raise money for the Christie.

The Lego Walk, similar to walking on hot coals but, parents would say, worse, will be one of the main features of Spinningfields’ new venture – a Makers Market and Finders Keepers market – which takes place on June 20 and 21 from 11am till 5pm.

Located on The Avenue, the Makers Market will feature a range of delicacies alongside arts and crafts available to purchase, all set to music from local performers.

Victoria Jackson, event manager for the Spinningfields Makers Market, said: “We pride ourselves at the Makers Market in delivering delightful specialist events with many award winning local producers of unique goods that compliment rather than compete with the permanent retail offering.”

The Makers Markets have been running across the country since 2009, and have gained a reputation for showcasing bespoke work from artists and designers.

Spinningfields’ Makers Market will be held on the third Sunday of each month alongside the Finders Keepers market on Hardman Boulevard, featuring vintage clothes, collectibles, and other quirky pieces.

Attendees can expect to take in such delights as ice-cream from local favourites Gingers Comfort Emporium, and Just Bee’s honey infused spring-water range.

In addition, the market will also feature cookery demonstrations and children’s activities, making it an event the whole family can enjoy.

The markets will be accompanied by two stages of talented musicians and performers over the course of the weekend.

The charitable side of the markets will see money raised for the Christie NHS Foundation Trust, which is among the largest cancer treatments in Europe.

The markets have free entry, and any performers or artisans who would like to get involved can contact [email protected]
