Horror crash kills pedestrian at bus stop on Stockport Road – motorists warned to avoid Longsight area

A pedestrian near a bus stop on Stockport Road died after being ploughed into by a car in a horror crash today – and motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

The driver of the car lost control while driving near the junction of Slade Lane, Longsight, at around 3.15pm today.

Emergency services were called to the tragic accident as the man believed to be in his 30s was pronounced dead at the scene – passers-by were left horrified by the sight.

A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police said: “Emergency services are now at the scene and road closures are in place in both directions of Stockport Road, A6.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area while emergency services deal with the incident.”
