Old Trafford pensioner wakes to find robber standing over bed threatening to stab him

A 71-year-old man was left with broken fingers after an intruder forced his way into his home and stripped jewellery from his hands as he lay in bed.

The thug broke through a window in the pensioner’s home in Old Trafford and threatened to stab him before making off with a gold watch and rings.

The chilling incident took place around 3pm on Friday November 7 at the victim’s home on Shewsbury Court.

Detective Rachel Smith said:” This man was startled to find an intruder in his bedroom, and then subjected to a very frightening ordeal.

“He had no idea if the offender would make good on those threats and quite understandably is extremely upset.”

“We need to find the offender who subjected this man to such a horrific ordeal and that is why I am appealing for the public’s help.

STOLEN: This is a similar ring to the one that was stolen

“We do have good descriptions of the jewellery stolen and have released a picture of a very similar ring, so I would ask that people look at these descriptions and if you are offered jewellery like this then please call us immediately.”

Police are now appealing to members of the public to come forward if they have any information on the whereabouts of the stolen items.

The first item is described as a 21 carat gold horse shoe ring with a horse’s head in the centre and the second is a 19 carat gold square design with the initials BAB engraved on it.

The watch has a white face, gold coloured trim and a dark brown leather strap.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
