Two men are recovering from stab wounds after five armed thugs attacked them at their homes in Salford, yesterday.

A 33-year-old man was left for dead after a gang, equipped with a firearm and knives, brutally stabbed him and his dog. The man’s neighbour was also attacked by the group and received stab wounds to the hand.

At approximately 8.20pm February 7, armed response units were called to Haddon Street, Salford, following the attack, however by the time officers arrived the group had disbanded.

Superintendent Mark Kenny said: “As soon as the report came into us armed officers were quickly deployed to the area, however the offenders had left.

"The investigation is at an early stage but we have a team of detectives investigating and we also have extra officers in the area today to reassure residents so if anyone has any concerns please speak to us."

Both men were taken to hospital. The unnamed victim suffered serious injuries and is now in a stable condition. His dog that was also viciously attacked received treatment and is expected to survive.

Superintendent Kenny added: “I would urge anyone who has any information about those involved or the circumstances surrounding this incident to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5351, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
