Did you get your pussy out for World Cat Day? Mancunians celebrate their marvellous moggies

Mancunians have been showing off their fantastic felines to celebrate World Cat Day.

With a day dedicated to pretty much everything ever, today it was the turn of our marvellous moggies to have a bit of the glory

Rachel Butler in Stockport shared a photo of her no-messing ginger cat, while wishing everyone a great World Cat Day.

David Dunkerley in Manchester shared a photo of his bookworm feline, feeling pretty tired after a lengthy reading session.

While Nazarene Theological College in Manchester today took to twitter to celebrate their much loved resident cat George, who has been a companion to many, a student who has passed through their Manchester University affiliated college.

It has not just been Mancunians putting their purrfect pals on a pedestal.

News and entertainment website posted ‘The 100 Most Important Cat Pictures of All Time’ to commemorate the special day.

While @EOnlineUK showed their support with a picture of Jennifer Lopez and a feline of, perhaps, equal fame, Grumpy Cat.

This day has not been a happy one for all though, as George Osborne’s tabby, Freya, was run over outside Downing Street last night.

She will, however, survive the event and is said to be recuperating at the vet’s.

If you are more of a dog lover, you will also have the chance to celebrate your four-legged friends on World Dog Day on August 26.
