Mum of Ashton drive-by victim Kieran McGrath says her ‘beautiful prince’ was no gang member

Kieran McGrath’s mother has described her son as ‘my beautiful prince’ after he was gunned down outside a pub in Asthon over the weekend.

The 26-year-old suffered serious injuries from a single gunshot wound to the chest after leaving the Sheldon Arms pub on Saturday October 4.

And in a heartfelt tribute, her mother described her grief at losing her ‘amazing’ son.

She said: “To my prince, my beautiful prince, they have taken you from me, but never your smile.

“No words can explain the devastation I am feeling inside. I feel so helpless and empty. You were and will always be the most amazing son I could have asked for, a fantastic brother, uncle, nephew and friend.

“You have given us all beautiful memories. Everyone misses you like mad and we are trying to right all the badness that has tried to blacken your name.

“’Gang member’. No, you didn’t have the heart. The only gang you are part of is ours, one of love and protection. We will protect your name and soul forever. Love mum.”
