Morbid alert! Joy Division legend Ian Curtis’ kitchen table (from suicide room) for sale on Ebay

By Danielle Wainwright

A kitchen table belonging to legendary Joy Division singer Ian Curtis is being flogged on Ebay for more than £6,000.

The bidding, which still has five days left, has reached a staggering £6,600 and 55 bids for Ebay seller toys_and_collectables_2005.

Curtis hung himself on May 18 1980 in his kitchen at his Macclesfield home and his wife Debbie then sold the home to a neighbour who ran a B&B there for 16 years.

The user, who has been an Ebay member for 13 years, will sell the table along with confirmation of authenticity from Natalie Curtis, Debbie Curtis and Marco from Joy Division Central.

There is a four-page print from a website with pictures taken from inside the address when it was a B&B.

The item is described as in ‘good condition’ and the seller originally won the item on an Ebay bid after Natalie Curtis did not want it.

The user wrote: “Clearly this table is a unique item and I have put a reserve on the table which I think reflects its true worth.”

The bid winner will have to pick the item up from Annan in Scotland.
