‘Manchester loves to have a conversation’: Brave Choices returns for third installment

A new series of live talks is proving a huge hit amongst Manchester’s talkers and thinkers.

The ‘Brave Choices’ series is becoming an established fixture for many Mancunians and has already achieved sell-out success in the North-West.

Next Thursday marks the third such event, organised by ‘Anotherway Now’, which was a creation of training and development company Anotherway Associates Ltd.

Ettie Brisk, business manager of Anotherway Associates, insisted the success of the initiative has been overwhelming and could not be better suited to the people of the North-West.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with the reaction we have had,” she said.

“We love attending these kinds of events in London, but couldn’t find anything similar in the North.

“Anotherway Now came about because we know Manchester loves to have a conversation – it feels like we’ve started something unique in the city we love.”

The aim of the series is simply to inspire thought-provoking conversation, and a benchmark was set in talk two, which featured Meirion Jones, a journalist who helped break the Jimmy Savile story.

That event sold out, and the latest is set to welcome Rupert Sheldrake, a distinguished Cambridge biologist and celebrated thinker, to the city’s International Anthony Burgess Foundation.

Sheldrake is a leading critic of a scientific ‘establishment’ wedded to what he sees as the outmoded ideas of scientific materialism.

He is the author of more than 80 scientific papers and 10 books and was among the top 100 Global Thought Leaders for 2013, as ranked by the Duttweiler Institute, Zurich – Switzerland’s leading think tank.

In the same year Sheldrake conducted a talk at TEDxWhitechapel, which was ultimately banned from their website following protests from two militant materialist bloggers.

In 2015, in Venice, he was awarded the first Lucia Torri Cianci prize for innovative thinking and Sheldrake now wants to share his well-informed views and experiences with Manchester.

Rupert Sheldrake’s talk will take place on Thursday January 14. For more information click here.
