Manhunt underway after two thugs tie up Oldham man in own home for knife-point robbery

A ‘very violent and frightening robbery’ in which a man was tied up by his hands and feet in his Oldham home has sparked a manhunt across Greater Manchester.

John Foster, 35, of no fixed abode, is wanted by police in connection with a robbery that took place on Sunday June 8 at a house on Ryefields Drive in Uppermill, Oldham.

A 43-year-old man was confronted by two offenders, one of whom was brandishing a knife. He was bound by his hands and feet allowing the criminals to steal numerous personal items.

Detective Sergeant Richard Arthern said: “This was a very violent and frightening robbery during which a man was threatened at knifepoint and bound by his hands and feet so he could not escape.

“The fact a weapon was used means we need to find those responsible and take this weapon out of circulation so that no-one else can be targeted in this way.

“We want to speak to Foster as part of our inquiry so I would urge anyone who does know of his whereabouts to call us immediately.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
