A callous thief swiped a Samsung Galaxy tablet from the hospital bed of a sick 11-month-old child at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital last month.
The thief stole the tablet from a baby girl in ward 85 sometime between the early evening of August 19 and 2pm the following day from her bedside table.
The child has a genetic disorder from birth and is often unwell and usually has to spend around two weeks at a time in hospital.
She also struggles to eat and as a result is fed via a glucose drip.
PC Jennifer Torkington, based at Longsight, said: “This is a truly sickening theft in every sense of the word.
“This poor baby used the tablet to pass the long hours in hospital and had come to really rely on it for comfort.
“For someone to spot it and then pinch it from under the nose of a poorly baby, who was clearly hooked up to a drip at the time, is truly disgusting.
“I’m sure most people reading this will be as appalled as I am and share our determination to catch the thief. Do you know someone who has suddenly and unexpectedly got a Galaxy tablet or have you been offered one in suspicious circumstances?
“If so, your call could help reunite a cherished toy with its rightful owner.”
