Preview: Two @ Royal Exchange Theatre – 17 January to 25 February

By Andrew Greaves

Billed as Under Milk Wood meets Phoenix Nights, Two promises to offer a theatre experience like no other.

Comedian and actor Justin Moorhouse – who shot to fame as Young Kenny on Phoenix Nights – and actress Victoria Elliott take the lead roles in Jim Cartwright’s sharp and touching slice of English life.

In a northern pub, a landlord and landlady welcome you to join the colourful collection of people who make it their local.

In this public place, you'll glimpse some private moments as we overhear snippets from the bittersweet lives and relationships of the regulars.

Two gives audiences the chance to share an evening with two incredible actors as they conjure up every one of Cartwright's distinctive and original tales, exploring the highs, lows, triumphs and disasters that are part and parcel of being one half of 'two'.

A prolific writer, Cartwright’s other plays are consistently performed around the world and have been translated into twenty languages and include Road and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice upon which the film Little Voice was based.

Performances take place Monday to Friday at 7.30pm with a Wednesday matinee at 2.30pm and shows on Saturday at 4pm and 8pm.
