Clubber stabbed in neck on dance floor of Oldham bar in run-in with group of men

A man has been stabbed in the neck while he was on the dance floor of an Oldham nightclub.

The 30-year-old victim was approached by a group of men before there was an altercation on the dance floor of Yorkshire Street’s Club Revolution at around 3:20am on Sunday August 9.

He was stabbed in the neck with either ‘a knife or a broken bottle’ and then the men ran off.

Detective Constable Gareth Gwilliam said: “At this stage, it is not known whether a knife or a broken bottle was used.

“What we do know is the victim is extremely lucky not to have suffered a more serious wound.  Thankfully, he is on the way to recovery but has been left shocked by what happened.”

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for anyone with any information about the attack to come forward or call them.

DC Gwilliam said: “I would ask anyone who may have been in the club at the time of the attack and witnessed what happened, to call police as soon as possible as unfortunately we do not have any descriptions.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 9063 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
