Manchester City target Edinson Cavani open to Manuel Pellegrini link-up – but insists no decision made yet

Manchester City and Chelsea target Edinson Cavani admits working for Manuel Pellegrini or Jose Mourinho would be a pleasure, heightening rumours he is Premier League-bound.

Pellegrini is expected to be installed as City’s new boss this week while Mourinho has returned for a second spell at Chelsea.

However the Uruguayan striker, 26, insists any move will only be completed when he returns from Confederations Cup duty for his country.

“I don't know if they've made an offer for me but I know that working for a coach like Pellegrini or Mourinho would be a great pleasure,” the Napoli man told Sky Sports News.

"It would certainly be a great honour to join one of the illustrious teams that are looking at me because I dreamed about doing that as a child.

"At the moment, though, I am only focused on Uruguay."

Last season’s Serie A top scorer also admitted he could yet remain in Naples, with former Liverpool and Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez now in charge.

While confessing he has spoken to other clubs, Cavani reiterated he will not be making any hasty decisions – but claims he is very relaxed about the whole situation.

"I don't know if Benitez's arrival could affect my future," he said. "Today I have a contract with Napoli but, at the same time, I'm talking to other teams.

"Things are bit uncertain at the moment. The only certain thing is that I belong to Napoli and I'm concentrating on Uruguay because we have a tough tournament like the Confederations Cup.

"People talk about big sums of money, about sales, about loan moves, and I'm used to it. I know that people like talking about big numbers but I have to stay honest and focus on the present.

"There are other things than football. I'm staying down to earth, happy, and relaxed and we will see what happens."
