VIDEO: Fire bugs target South Manchester cars, torching Mercedes outside Whalley Range home

CCTV footage of two arsonists torching a car parked outside its owners house in Whalley Range has been released by police.

Around 1.40am on Friday May 23, two men approached a white Toyota Aygo and a black Mercedes Benz which were parked outside a house on Vaughan Road.

One of the men smashed a window of the Mercedes while the other poured an accelerant inside before setting it alight.

They then smashed the window of the Toyota Aygo and attempted to set it alight but failed.

Detective Sergeant Scott Halsall said: “Fortunately no one was injured in this attack however the Mercedes Benz was completely burnt out and is a total loss.

“We are looking at the possibility this was a targeted attack and would ask anyone with information about who may be involved to contact police.”
