Roy and Ole on Wanderers' list: Manchester United legends Solskjaer and Keane in running for Bolton job

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the list of ever growing candidates to fill the vacant manager’s position at Bolton Wanderers following the departure of Owen Coyle on Tuesday.

Solskjaer is joined by former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy and old teammate Roy Keane on the list of potential replacements.

Blackburn Rovers have also expressed an interest in the baby-faced-assassin, who had a spell in charge of Manchester United reserves before guiding Molde to the Tippeligaen in 2011.

Chairman Phil Gartside is said to be looking for a young and hungry manager and the Norwegian fits the bill perfectly.

Former Wanderers player Alan Gowling has called on Gartside to open talks with Solskjaer – who turned down the Aston Villa job in the summer.

"I'd definitely talk to Solskjaer, he's a fresh face and fresh name," Gowling told the BBC.

"It should have come last Christmas when it would have given the new manager a chance to keep Bolton in the Premier League.”

Ex-Real Madrid man Ivan Campo has also expressed a desire to return to The Reebok Stadium in a managerial role.

The Spanish defender was a fans favourite and part of a Bolton team that included greats such as Jay-Jay Okocha and Youri Djorkaeff.
