VIDEO: Manchester MMA fighter Davey Grant ‘wants a knock-out’ at UFC fight night

MM caught up with Manchester-based MMA fighter Davey ‘Dangerous’ Grant, who is set to face Ecuador’s Marlon Vera at this month’s UFC fight night in London.

The battle is a momentous occasion for bantamweight Grant – currently at nine wins to two losses in his professional MMA career – as it is his first time back in ‘The Octagon’ after a two-year hiatus.

February 27 will mark his second UFC appearance, the first of which was in the 2013 season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).

Grant trains at SBG Manchester under coach Karl Tanswell alongside fellow ex-TUF contestant Saul Rogers and FCC champion Matt Inman.

And the Ultimate Fighting Championship contender has got his heart set on a knock-out as he represents his country in the capital.

He told MM: “It’s a great honour. I’m stoked to be fighting in the capital, in the UFC, hopefully flying the flag for the English fans. It’s going to be really good, I’m really excited about it.

“To be honest, I want to go and win by knocking him out. I think everyone wants to win with a knockout, that’s always going to be the best way.”

Some might be feeling the heat in their first fight back after injury leave but from the sounds of it Grant may be in better shape than ever.

He said: “When I’ve been off injured, it’s not as if I’ve just been living the life like a slob. I’m an athlete at the end of the day, so I’ve been keeping in check,

“I’ve been keeping my weight right, I’ve been doing everything I can to keep fit and healthy.”
