Carefree Bristol City won’t give Bolton Wanderers an easy ride, says cautious Trotters boss Dougie Freedman

By John McDougall

Dougie Freedman has warned Bolton Wanderers not to expect an easy ride when they travel to Ashton Gate to play Championship bottom club Bristol City.

The Trotters travel to the West Country in impressive form, losing only twice in their past 12 league games and sitting two points from the play-offs.

But Freedman has urged caution ahead of the clash with the Robins, insisting Sean O’Driscoll’s men will be giving everything to save their Championship status.

“It is being able to cope with the different scenarios, Bristol City have nothing to really lose,” Freedman told Bolton’s website.

“They are going to take risks and it makes it hard to anticipate what they are going to do so it is not going to be an easy game.

“It is a game Bristol City have to win, they will have a weight off their shoulder so to speak.”

Though the Whites are on a seven-game home winning run, Wanderers have lost their last two trips away from the Reebok Stadium against Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic.

As the season approaches its climax, Freedman believes his side are leaving nothing to chance and are preparing down to the smallest detail.

“This next month is about detail and keeping the lads fresh. The players know the structure and what we are all about,” said the Glaswegian.

“The players are looking forward to the games coming up, we have worked very hard for the last three months on the structure of the team and the way we play.

“The players are fit; they are focused on winning games so we have been working on our detail and how we are going to win our remaining games.”

Tyrone Mears and Keith Andrews are still out injured, while centre-half David Wheater has returned to fitness and will be available for selection next week.
