Grub’s up: Frank’s RedHot teams up with Grillstock to bring all-you-can-eat hot wings contest to Manchester

By Paddy von Behr

The search for ‘The Official Wings Eating Champion 2013’ is coming to Manchester, so get ready to munch your way to glory next month.

Frank’s RedHot has teamed up with the UK’s leading BBQ and music festival, Grillstock, to launch this finger-lickin’ competition.

And Albert Square will play host to Manchester’s regional heats on June 8 and 9, where punters from across the city will convene for an all-you-can-eat hot wings scoff-off.

Contestants are invited to eat as many Frank’s RedHot buffalo wings – served exactly as they were in Anchor Bar back in 1964 – as they can in five minutes.

The winner will take the spoils and the prize of a trip to London to compete with the UK’s top wing-munchers in November’s national final.

Chloe Agache, Frank’s RedHot brand manager, is looking forward to the regional heats – held in Manchester and Bristol – as well as the all-important London showpiece.

She said: “Frank’s RedHot is very excited to partner with Grillstock again this year, bringing the flavours of American BBQ and grilling to the UK.”

The competition will take place as part of Grillstock’s annual festival, which is making its Albert Square debut this year.

Organisers invite you to pitch up for some ‘Meat, Music and Mayhem’, in traditional Grillstock style, across the two-day carnival.

The Bristol-based meat festival has been bringing the smokey taste of the American barbeque to our shores since 2010.

And this year it is taking a host of musical acts, meaty offerings and, of course, the hot wing extravaganza to the sunny North West.
